MEMBERSHIP POLICIES

The Madison Area YMCA reserves the right to terminate or suspend membership privileges for inappropriate behavior at any time.

The Madison Area YMCA reserves the right to change or modify policies at any time.

Safety and security are everyone’s responsibility.

The Madison Area YMCA has high standards for safety and behavior protocols, and zero tolerance for any violence or bullying behavior. We work hard to build and support a healthy and safe environment for all our staff, members, and our community. To maintain standards of conduct that ensure all Y staff and members feel safe and comfortable, violation of our Code of Conduct is grounds for immediate suspension of membership facility access. The following Code of Conduct can be found throughout the Y's website and is upheld by all who enter our facilities. Thank you for helping to ensure our Y remains a safe place for all.

The Madison Area YMCA’s Code of Conduct:

  • Please honor our Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  • The Y has zero tolerance for violence and bullying. Any form of either behavior is not tolerated. Any violation is grounds for immediate suspension or termination of membership and facility access. 
  • Speak respectfully and refrain from yelling. The use of vulgar or derogatory language is not tolerated. 
  • Respect the property of others, including that of the YMCA; do not engage in theft or destruction of property.
  • Appropriate attire is required at all times.
  • Create a safe, caring environment for all.
  • Please assist us in keeping our facility clean and tidy.
  • Running or wearing recreational skates (including “heelies”) are not permitted within the halls and lobby area of the facility. 
  • Please obey our Photo and Video: Family Center Policy.
  • Doors marked “Emergency Exit Only” are only used in an emergency. An alarm will sound. 

Emergency Contacts/Updated Address, Phone Numbers, and Email

  • Please make sure we have your current emergency contact information – you can check this at the Welcome Center.

Membership Fees

  • Membership dues are paid by monthly bank or credit card draft. You can also choose to pay annually or quarterly by cash, check, or credit card.

  • A fee will be charged for all returned checks.

Nanny/Au Pair/Caregiver Policies

  •  Families may obtain an entry-only pass for the regular caregivers of their children by filling out a Member Authorization form at the Welcome Center.
  • Au Pairs can apply for a reduced rate membership with documentation from the agency that they work for.

  • Caregivers must be a member to use the facility.

 Initiation Fee

  • The Initiation Fee is a one-time fee as long as the membership is continuous.

  • Should the membership lapse more than 90 days, a new initiation fee may be charged. Initiation fees are non-refundable.

  • Upgrading a membership may result in an additional payment due for the difference in joining fees.

Membership Cards

  • Members are required to present their membership card at the Welcome Center every time they enter the facility.

  • Please report lost or stolen cards to the Welcome Center.

  • Your membership card is your verification of your agreement to receive the benefits of membership and to abide by the rules and policies of the Madison Area YMCA. Membership cards are non-transferable.

Nationwide Membership

  • Most YMCA’s participate in the Nationwide Membership Program and Members can use those facilities at no additional fee.

  • Please note that not all YMCA’s participate in this program and some may charge a reduced guest fee or place restrictions on usage. We recommend contacting the YMCA you plan to visit.

Membership Suspensions

  • Memberships may be placed on hold for up to 3 months per calendar year.

  • Notice must be given in writing at least 10 days prior to the period for which you would like the suspension to take effect in accordance with your billing date.

  • A return date must be specified at the time of request. The membership will automatically reactivate on the return date unless notification is given.

  • Additional restrictions may apply.

Membership Terminations and Adjustments

  • For members who pay through our monthly draft option, notice must be received in writing 10 days prior to the renewal date.

  • Membership refunds for members who pay annually or quarterly are on a pro-rated basis from the approved termination date.

  • Membership transfers can be done at any time in person. An additional initiation fee may apply to upgrades.

  • Notice regarding the Termination of the membership must be provided in writing.

Guest Policy

  • We do not limit the number of times a member can bring a guest into the Madison Area YMCA.

  • Members are responsible for their guests while in the facility.

  • A guest fee is charged for each visit.

  • Government-issued photo ID is required for all guests over the age of 18.

Photo Release

  • All members and guests consent to the release of photos of the member and/or family for possible publication.
