  • The Madison Area YMCA is proud to offer a complete gymnastics program.
  • All classes are held in the gymnastics center, a dedicated space which includes a spring floor, Tumble Trak, pits over our vault, bars, beams and floor and much more!
  • The staff at the YMCA follows the USAG Gymnastics guidelines for teaching all levels of gymnasts, with safety and fun as our first priority. We offer all levels from beginner to advanced.
  • All Instructors will coach children on all events, incorporating body awareness and control, flexibility, strengthening, conditioning, and safety knowledge into all lessons.
  • We offer Parent/Child, Preschool, School Age and Teen Gymnastics programs.

    • Gym Toddler Classes
      Gym Toddler Classes (crawling-2yrs.) This 45 minute parent-child class offers toddlers an opportunity to further develop strength, flexibility and social skills through a variety of age-appropriate activities including group songs, equipment circuit, and parachute. The perfect way to begn your child's journey in our gymnastics program.
    • Gym Dandy Classes
      Gym Dandy Classes (2-3yrs.) This 45 minute parent-child class offers toddlers an opportunity to further develop strength, flexibility and social skills through a variety of age-appropriate activities including group songs, equipment circuit, and parachute. In this class, participants will build on the basics that were introduced in Gym Toddler while adding more challenging and age appropriate play and gymnastics instruction. Must be 2 by the first class.
    • Time 2 Tumble Classes
      Time 2 Tumble (2yrs.) This 30 minute dynamic class was developed for independent toddlers to enhance their gross motor skills, muscle tone, balance, coordination, and self-confidence through important skills such as climbing, jumping, kicking, throwing, and catching. Participants do not need to be toilet trained. Parents must remain in the building.
    • Jolly Jumper I Classes
      Jolly Jumper I (3yrs.) This one-hour program is specially designed to introduce and develop locomotor skills, basic gymnastics skills, social skills, hand-eye coordination and cooperation with other children to learn important concepts like taking turns, following directions, and listening. Children will continue to be introduced to progressions of gymnastic skills and apparatus in a FUN, educational and safe environment. All participants must be toilet trained.
    • Jolly Jumper I Kirby Classes
      Jolly Jumper I Kirby Classes (3yrs.) This 45 minute class is offered for those who are enrolled at our F.M. Kirby Children's Center, transportation to the Family Center will be provided. This program is specially designed to introduce and develop locomotor skills, basic gymnastics skills, social skills, hand-eye coordination and cooperation with other children to learn important concepts like taking turns, following directions, and listening. Children will continue to be introduced to progressions of gymnastic skills and apparatus in a FUN, educational and safe environment. All participants must be toilet trained.
    • Kick Off To Summer Mini Camps
      Kick Off To Summer Mini Camps (3-6yrs.) All students must be potty trained. Students will be using our specialized, preschool-scale equipment including balance beam, bars, vault, mini trampoline, tumble trak, tumbling and much more. There will be a short snack break each day as well as a resting activity to break up the physical portions of the camp. Campers are required to bring their own snack.
    • Preschool Boys and Girls Gymnastics Classes
      Preschool Boys and Girls Gymnastics (3-4yrs.) No experience needed. This one-hour class is offered during afterschool hours as well as Saturday mornings to help accommodate parents with siblings of different ages. The Preschool Gymnastics program is designed to allow every child to develop gross motor skills while channeling abundant energy and introducing him or her to the wonderful sport of gymnastics. We provide a safe fun-filled environment where we introduce your child to basic gymnastics skills and cooperation with other children as they learn to take turns, follow directions and to listen. Our staff is trained to help each child have fun and feel successful as they learn and grow. Participants must be toilet trained.
    • Preschool Progressive Gymnastics Mini Camps
      Preschool Gymnastics Mini Camps (3-5yrs.) One week camps for all gymnastics levels. Open to boys and girls. Sessions run Monday-Thursday or Tuesday/Thursday.
    • Tumble Tots Classes
      Tumble Tots (3yrs.) Is your child ready to attend class without a parent/guardian but not toilet trained or ready for an hour class yet? This 30-minute class for boys and girls is taught with flexible thematic lesson plans to allow for creative exploration, growth and development while building strength and self-confidence. Students are successfully introduced to age appropriate equipment. Parents must remain in the building.
    • Y Ninja Gym Kirby Classes
      Y Ninja Gym (3-4yrs.) This class is offered for those who are enrolled at our F.M. Kirby Children's Center, transportation to the Family Center will be provided. Our structured program for Y Ninja Gym training is based on obstacle course training methodology including: strength and conditioning drills, specialty skill development (flips, rolls, jumps and kicks) tumbling, martial arts skills and mindfulness/mediation practices. This program is specifically designed to build coordination, motor control, conditioning, proprioception, body awareness, spatial awareness, agility and physical strength. This class develops self-confidence, teamwork and discipline.
    • Y Ninja Gym Preschool Classes
      Y Ninja Gym (3-4yrs.) Our structured program for Y Ninja Gym training is based on obstacle course training methodology including: strength and conditioning drills, specialty skill development (flips, rolls, jumps and kicks) tumbling, martial arts skills and mindfulness/mediation practices. This program is specifically designed to build coordination, motor control, conditioning, proprioception, body awareness, spatial awareness, agility and physical strength. This class develops self-confidence, teamwork and discipline.
    • Jolly Jumper II Classes
      Jolly Jumper II (Must be 4yrs. by the first class) This one-hour class provides a strong foundation of locomotor skills, balance, flexibility and strength with an emphasis on spatial awareness, agility, and progressive gymnastic skill development. Our instructors will keep your gymnast engaged, active, and eager to learn more. Through gymnastics your child will gain self-confidence and an 'I can do it' attitude.

    • Boys Gymnastics Roller Classes
      Boys Gymnastics Roller Classes (5yrs.) *1 Hour* Beginner level, no prior experience needed. Emphasis will be on basic gymnastic skill development, coordination, balance, strength and flexibility. Students will use a variety of gymnastic equipment and apparatus.
    • Girls Gymnastics A-Team
      A - Division - Practices 4 days/week for 9.5 -14 hours Levels 8, 9 & 10. A-Division competes up to the National level YMCA & USAG. Director permission required.
    • Girls Gymnastics B-Team
      B -Division - Practices 3 days/week for 9.5 hours; USAG Level 6 & 7.Competes up to USAG Sectional & State Level and YMCA National Level. Director permission required.
    • Girls Gymnastics C-Team
      C-Division - Practices 3 days/week, for 7.5 hours; USAG Level 5. Competes up to USAG Sectional & State Level and YMCA National level. Director permission required.
    • Girls Gymnastics Pre-Team
      Pre-Team - Practices 1 day/week or 2 days/week; The pre-team level further develops basic gymnastics skills as well as strength, flexibility, and coordination. Pre-team serves as a 'bridge' between our recreational program and our competitive team program. This level trains for a total of 4 hours per week on all events including vault, bars, and beam floor. Their hours are increased to allow for more hands-on training as well as repetitive skill training or muscle memory. Director permission required.
    • Girls Gymnastics Roller Classes
      Girls Gymnastics Roller (5+yrs.) *1 Hour* Beginner level, no prior experience needed. This level provides the foundation of basic gymnastics knowledge for your child. This class will include basic instruction on vault, bars, beam and floor exercise as well as safety skills. Gymnasts will learn new skills, build self-confidence, strength and flexibility.
    • Gymnastics Team Camp
      Gymnastics Team Camp (5-18yrs.) Director permission required.
    • Rising Rosettes Classes
      Rising Rosettes Classes (5-7yrs.) *1 1/2 Hour Advanced Level. Director recommendation only.* This is an advanced placement class for children 5yrs. and up who are highly motivated and are looking for an increased challenge in skill development. Workouts are centered on skill building, strength training, flexibility, and routine development.
    • School Age & Double Digit Gymnastics/Y Ninja Mini Camps
      School Age & Double Digit Gymnastics/Y Ninja Mini Camps (6-15yrs.) One week camps for all gymnastics levels. Open to boys and girls. Sessions run Monday-Thursday.
    • Y Ninja Gym School Age Classes
      Y Ninja Gym (5-14yrs.) Our structured program for Y Ninja Gym training is based on obstacle course training methodology including: strength and conditioning drills, specialty skill development (flips, rolls, jumps and kicks) tumbling, martial arts skills and mindfulness/mediation practices. This program is specifically designed to build coordination, motor control, conditioning, proprioception, body awareness, spatial awareness, agility and physical strength. This class develops self-confidence, teamwork and discipline.
    • Boys Gymnastics Swinger Classes
      Boys Gymnastics Swinger Classes (6+yrs.) *1 Hour* This intermediate level one-hour class is the next progression for boys who have mastered the basics taught in Boys Roller while developing the skills needed to advance to Boys Kipper.
    • Girls Gymnastics Wheeler Classes
      Girls Gymnastics Wheeler Classes (6+yrs.) *1 Hour Novice Level* This class will continue to build upon the foundation of skills your gymnast has already developed. Students will continue to work on skill progressions, while improving strength, flexibility, knowledge, and confidence. Instruction on all competitive events will be included.
    • School Age & Double Digit Progressive Gymnastics Mini Camps
      School Age Gymnastics Mini Camps (6-9yrs.) One week camps for all gymnastics levels. Open to boys and girls. Sessions run Monday-Friday or Tuesday/Thursday. Double Digits Gymnastics Mini Camps (10-15yrs.) A unique 2 hour camp experience offers the opportunity to learn gymnastics skills in a fun and encouraging environment. No prior experience is required. This camp is for our tween and teen participants who enjoy diong gymnastics and learning new skills at their own pace ina low pressure, positive environment.
    • Girls Gymnastics Flyer Classes
      Girls Gymnastics Flyer Classes (7+yrs.) *1 1/2 hour class Advanced Level* Gymnasts will continue to advance their gymnastics development. After successfully completing the previous levels, these gymnasts are ready for more of a challenge. Instructors will encourage the gymnasts to improve technique, form, and amplitude on the basic gymnastics elements on all competitive events.
    • Girls Gymnastics Kipper Classes
      Girls Gymnastics Kipper Classes (7+yrs.) *Advanced Level 1 1/2 Hour Class* Gymnast must have successfully passed the previous steps on our skill evaluation for placement in this class. Gymnast should have a strong foundation of gymnastics skills and be ready to increase class time to an hour and a half. Instruction in this class will include more advanced elements while continuing to increase coordination, balance, strength, as well as flexibility. These gymnasts will begin to learn basic sequences to further increase gymnastics development and coordination.
    • Girls Gymnastics Swinger Classes
      Girls Gymnastics Swinger Classes (7+yrs.) *1 Hour Intermediate Level* The swinger class is for participants who have a strong foundation of the gymnastics skills learned in Wheeler, and are ready to learn more advanced elements, while continuing to increase coordination, balance, strength, as well as flexibility. These gymnasts will begin to learn short sequences to further increase gymnastics development and coordination.
    • Girls Gymnastics Twister Classes
      Girls Gymnastics Twisters Classes (8+yrs.) *1 1/2 Hour skill preparation for Pre-Team. Director's permission required for registration.* The gymnasts will continue to progress to more advanced skills on all competitive events. They will continue to learn more complex combinations as introduction and preparation for Pre-Team. Instructors will expect the gymnasts to use proper technique, form, and amplitude on the basic gymnastics elements.
    • Girls Double Digits Classes
      Double Digits (9+yrs.) This class offers the opportuniyy to learn gymnastics skills in a fun and encouraging environment. No prior experience is required. This class is for our tween and teen participants who enjoy doing gymnastics and learning new skills at their own pace in a low pressure, positive environment. Double Digits Intermediate (10-16yrs.) Intermediate class with prior experience. This is the perfect class for our older teen participants who enjoy doing gymnastics simply just for fun. This is a low-pressure, positive environment for students to continue learning and perfecting their gymnastics capabilities.
    • Girls Flip and Twist Classes
      Girls Flip and Twist Classes (9+yrs.) *2 Hour Advanced Class. Director's permission required for registratoin.* During the course of this program participants will be working on skill development equal to competitive levels while experiencing the atmosphere of a team work out without the full commitment of our competitive program.
