As fall leaves cover the ground and weather becomes less accommodating, Group Exercise classes have begun to move indoors to large, well-ventilated and easily accessible exercise rooms and studios. Our goal is to offer classes outdoors as often as we can, and for as long as we can, healthily and safely. Changes due to inclement weather and corresponding levels of health and safety will be continuously assessed by the management team. All registered class participants will receive email notifications if a class has been moved inside due to weather. With inclement weather changes, and as outdoor class limits are larger than indoor limits, we may not be able to accommodate everyone inside in the event inclement weather prohibits a class from running outdoors. Please continue to register online for our classes. Our goal is to keep Group Exercise classes outside for as long as we safely can, and keep our members healthy and moving!
At the Y, the health and safety of all is of utmost importance. With strict adherence to safely maintaining a healthy environment, we have successfully continued to conduct indoor programming including child care and early childhood education at our F.M. Kirby Children's Center, studio classes, School-Age Virtual Learning programs, youth classes and our Fitness Center locations inside the Family Center.
Group Exercise classes will continue with these safety standards in place. As the weather changes, and when classes do begin to move indoors on a scheduled basis, equipment and workout spaces will continue to be cleaned and sanitized regularly, including in between each class. Our HVAC system meets standards for COVID-19 safety guidelines, pulling in air from the outside. Markers on the floor indicate where members should stand (providing 200 square feet around). Masks are worn at all times, and we adhere to capacity room limits most times at a lower than permitted capacity.
