The Parent Council at The F.M.Kirby Children’s Center
The Kirby Parent Council is a volunteer group made up of parents and members of the Administration who work together to enhance the experiences of the children who attend the F.M. Kirby Children's Center, their families, the teachers and the staff. The Parent Council members maintain the same values as those of the YMCA - dedication to community and a deep commitment to social responsibility, youth development and healthy living.
The annual goals of the Parent Council focus on the organization and sponsorship of events and the purchase of equipment that will enrich the educational growth, physical development and positive social experience of the children at Kirby. It also works to develop and support recognition and appreciation events that acknowledge the Kirby staff and show gratitude for all they do to educate, nurture and protect children. The Parent Council further works to serve the families of Kirby by developing and promoting events and opportunities for parents to engage with each other, and it assists in raising awareness of the YMCA Annual Campaign throughout the Kirby parent community.
The Parent Council typically convenes in the early fall and meets one evening each month for approximately one hour. Meeting are open to all parents of the Center and focus on promoting annual goals, providing participants with opportunities to constructively discuss issues impacting the Center, and offering parent workshops related to early childhood development.
The Kirby Parent Council welcomes and invites the participation of its parents and parents who are interested in serving on the Council should contact the main office. The combined efforts of a strong parent council will help to insure that everyone's experience at Kirby will remain the best that it can be.
