MEMBERSHIP POLICIES

The Madison Area YMCA reserves the right to terminate or suspend membership privileges for inappropriate behavior at any time.

The Madison Area YMCA reserves the right to change or modify policies at any time.

Safety and security are everyone’s responsibility.

  
CODE OF CONDUCT
  • Speak in respectful tones, excluding the use of vulgar or derogatory language.
  • Respect the property of others, including that of the YMCA; do not engage in theft or destruction of that property.
  • Wearing of appropriate attire at all times.
  • Create a safe, caring environment for all.
  • No unwanted physical contact with others including, but not limited to intentional touching, grabbing, pinching, brushing against another's body, or impending or blocking movement.

Please make sure we have your (and your family’s) current emergency contact information – check at the Welcome Center.

Membership Fees

  • Membership dues may be paid annually by cash, check or credit card, or by choosing our monthly bank or credit card draft.
  • Memberships are non-transferable.
  • A fee will be charged for all returned checks.

NANNY/CAREGIVER POLICIES

  • For a nominal annual fee, Family members only may add a Nanny/Caregiver to accompany children to parent/child classes and to Kids Central Open Play on weekdays only.
  • Family members may change caregiver at any time, but must pay an additional fee to add concurrent caregivers.
  • Caregiver must be an Adult Member to use the facility.

 Initiation Fee

  • Initiation fee is a one-time fee as long as membership is continuous.
  • Should membership lapse more than 30 days, a new initiation fee may be charged. Initiation fees are non-refundable.

Membership Cards

  • Please present your membership card at the Welcome Center each and every time you enter the facility.
  • Report lost or damaged cards to the Welcome Center.
  • Replacement cards incur a modest replacement fee.
  • Your membership card is your verification of your agreement to receive the benefits of membership and to abide by the rules and policies of the Madison Area YMCA. Membership cards are non-transferable.

A.W.A.Y. Always Welcome At a Y

  • If you plan to travel, we will send you off with a letter stating that your membership is in good standing so that you may take advantage of a YMCA in the area that you will be visiting.
  • Please note that not all YMCAs participate in this program and some Ys charge a reduced guest fee.

Membership Holds and Freezes

  • Memberships may be interrupted for medical reasons and must have a doctor’s note with the start date of interruption and an estimated return date. A clearance note is required upon return.
  • Memberships may be placed on hold for business/international travel. Notice must be received in writing from the issuing authority with dates of excuse.
  • Senior members only may place their membership on hold if they are spending the winter or the summer out of the area.
  • Adjustments may not be made retroactively.
  • Membership may be interrupted for no less than one calendar month and must be for full calendar months.
  • Notification must be received in writing by the 20th of the month prior to the interruption date.
  • An anticipated return date must be provided at the time of suspension.

Membership Termination, Adjustments and Refunds

  • Memberships may be terminated or changed at any time for members who pay annually or quarterly.
  • For members who pay through our monthly draft option, notice must be received by the 20th of the month prior to the change month.
  • Notice regarding changes or terminations must be provided in writing.
  • Membership refunds for members who pay annually or quarterly are on a pro-rated basis from the date that the request is approved.
  • A processing fee will be charged for all requests.

Guest Policy

  • We do not limit the number of times a member is able to bring a guest into the Madison Area YMCA.
  • A guest fee is charged for each visit.

Photo Release

  • All members consent to the release of photos of the member and/or family for possible publication.
