Last Chance for the First Annual Madison Downtown Scavenger Hunt!

(Madison, NJ) March 12, 2015 – It’s not too late! Don’t miss out on Madison’s First Annual Scavenger Hunt!! Gather family, friends, neighbors and colleagues to form teams of up to six participants per team and race around downtown Madison or the Madison Area YMCA’s Family Center to locate Madison’s “hidden treasures” on Saturday, March 21. Application will be accepted until 12 p.m. on the day of the event.

Applications are available at the Y’s Family Center on Kings Road, the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center on East Street, Madison Borough Hall on Kings Road or visit the DDC page of www.rosenet.org to download an application. A $50 registration fee per team guarantees a spot. On event day, check-in and packet pick-up is 12 p.m.-1 p.m. at the Madison Area YMCA’s Family Center. The Scavenger Hunt is 1 p.m.-3 p.m. The reception with an awards ceremony will take place at the YMCA’s Family Center from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Awards will be presented in several categories such as 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, Best Team Name, Most Team Spirit, Best Team Uniform and more.

Madison merchants are supporting the event with donations of gift cards, and discounts for all to enjoy. Among the many downtown businesses donating prizes are Beneath the Surface Day Spa, Blue Ridge Mountain Sports, Blue Wasabi, David’s Rumba Café, Doodlebugz, Cambridge Street Papers, Downtown Salon, Home Sweet Home, La La Land, Madison Pet Shop, Madison Pharmacy, Nautilus Diner, Romanelli’s, Seasons Gifts, Short Stories Community Book Hub, SKN Lab, Tons of Toys and Urban Fire. Many stores are offering week-long discounts to all Scavenger Hunt participants. 

During the Scavenger Hunt, Drip located at 34 Main Street is offering 10% off from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. After the awards ceremony, Biladi Grill located at 77 Main Street is offering entrée and sandwich specials from 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

Scavenger Hunt deals will run the entire week after the event! Alfred’s will offer 25% off; Madison Pet Shop will offer 10% off—including pet food; Nicky’s Fire House will offer Early Bird Specials; Short Stories will offer 15% off all books; Soho 33 will offer 10% off the entire bill; Starting Line Sports will offer 15% off excluding sale items and Studio Yoga will offer a free yoga class

The Downtown Development Commission (DDC) and the Madison Area YMCA have teamed up to host the event which will support the DDC’s programs for downtown Madison and benefit the Madison Area YMCA’s new Community Mental Health Initiative. The Y’s Community Mental Health Initiative focuses on reducing stigma associated with mental illness and addressing barriers to mental health care by increasing knowledge and equipping lay mental health supporters with skills to increase help-offering behaviors.
