Nationwide Membership
Access to over 700 Ys across the country
We are happy to share that the Madison Area YMCA welcomes Nationwide members. With nationwide membership, your Y membership allows you to visit any participating YMCA in the United States and Puerto Rico, at no additional cost. So, when you're traveling, all Ys accepting Nationwide Memberships are open to Y members and provide a safe and welcoming environment for everyone - no matter where you are. Nationwide Membership is an essential part of our cause to strengthen communities.
What’s Changing (Effective September 8, 2025)
Based on member feedback and to ensure the best experience for Madison Area YMCA members during high-traffic times, Nationwide Access will be unavailable during peak hours:
- Monday–Friday: 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM
- Saturday & Sunday: Before 12:00 PM
Outside these peak hours, Nationwide visitors are welcome in accordance with our standard Nationwide policy.
Please remember: Nationwide members must use their home YMCA as their primary location and are expected to visit it at least 51% of the time.
The first time you visit a Y outside of your home Y, you will need to sign a waiver. It takes just a few minutes, with a photo ID, and once it’s done, you won’t have to do it again! If you know you are heading out of town, feel free to stop by the Welcome Center at your local Y and sign the waiver in-branch. Then you are all set to enjoy the benefits of nationwide membership!
We care about your safety
As your safety and that of your family is always our primary concern, the YMCA conducts regular sex offender screenings on all members, participants, and guests. If a sex offender match occurs, the YMCA reserves the right to cancel membership, end program participation, and remove visitation access.

*Some restrictions may apply or vary among the participating Ys, so we recommend you call ahead prior to your visit. Visit ymca.net to find a participating Y location in the area you are visiting.
