(Madison, NJ) October 2, 2020 – The F.M. Kirby Children’s Center of the Madison Area YMCA provides a highly supportive environment for its students and its valued staff alike. Skilled and knowledgeable teachers are dedicated to working with new employees to build the foundation for their professional development and success in the future. The dedication to their classroom and passion for their work is evident in the daily lesson plans and structure of the individual classrooms created by the teachers at the Kirby Center and add to the numerous advantages that Kirby staff experience. Here are the top three reasons to join the Kirby Team this school year.

One: Professional Development
With many benefits including educational and professional advancement, countless resources and skilled staff, Kirby strives to provide an environment unlike any other. Teachers attend quarterly trainings related to curriculum, leadership and more. This range of trainings allow for growth opportunities across the organization. All staff at the Kirby Center are CPR and First Aid certified. With an American Red Cross trainer on staff, teachers maintain an active certification and are re-trained on-site, as needed. Kirby also encourages all teachers to expand their professional and educational development by attending webinars, on and off-site trainings or by pursing Child Development Associate certification (CDA). Toddler Lead Teacher Aimee Arguedas states that “Getting a CDA not only opened doors for me professionally but enabled me to gain more knowledge and experience for my students. They are the best part of Kirby and knowing that they are happy, safe and learning means that we’re all doing our jobs well, which makes for a rewarding career.”

Two: Flexibility
As a Kirby employee for more than seven years, Aimee also has her two children enrolled in Kirby programs. “I know that the environment that my kids are in is enriching and engaging and they are both thriving at Kirby,” said Arguedas. The Arguedas family benefits from a complimentary family membership at the Madison Area YMCA through Aimee’s employment at Kirby. Benefits also include attractive, employees-only fees for childcare, summer camp, enrichment classes and personal training. Employment at Kirby allows parents to stay in the workforce full-time while receiving quality care and education for their children. Complementing the family routine, Kirby offers a place for both children and adults to learn, grow and thrive.

Three: Experienced Co-Workers
Kirby is extremely proud of the longevity of many of its staff, especially those in the lead teacher role. Averaging a total of 18 years with Kirby, lead teachers continue to acquire the knowledge needed to make their rooms developmentally appropriate and remain up to date with the latest educational advancements. Infant Lead Teacher Sara Carnival shares her commitment to Kirby and her classroom. Sara said, “The 36 years I’ve spent at Kirby have given me the unique opportunity to watch students grow in all stages of their early education. In return, they have helped me grow as a professional and as a caregiver”. In order to pass on years of knowledge to staff members beginning their careers, Director Karé Matrisciano explained, “The longevity of our core staff provide a type of mentorship that assists with professional development. These veteran staff provide first-hand insight into the particulars of creating a classroom. This knowledge helps properly guide and prepare the teachers of tomorrow with help from skilled and highly capable staff.”

Employment at the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center of the Madison Area YMCA provides both personal and professional benefits and offers the opportunity for both children and adults to build relationships outside of the family.
